Greening signs up for the reds

Ok great we have signed a second player! I think Greening will add great experience to the squad and could even be a contender for captain!?

I think Greening would be the best player for Captain due to his experience and position on the field.

Great news that Mousie has signed a 3 year contract things are starting to come into place but what about a left back anybody heard any talk?

The signings are better, more experienced than players that have left the club, apart from left back and Earnshaw. Billy Sharp maybe a good call?, but I'm pleased so far providing we see a quality left back come in. I think Lachelles could step up for cover to the first team and can't wait to see Findley play a full 90 minutes. Bring it on!

a left back is an absolute must now it is something like 6 transferwindows we've had to sort this problem out. also a quality replacement for earnie is still needed, 9 players going out and only 2 in plus moussi signing a new deal. we are still someway short of what i believe we need to maintain a promotion push this season!

Have to agree with you all. Great news for Moussi to sign on. Greening will bring some good experience and the signings are better. We've let a lot of players go but the only one I'll miss is Earny. A replacement for him and a left back and we're back on track. We're still lacking depth though which will be worrying when we start to pick up knocks. Shorey would be superb what happened to that story?

Shopping List:

1. LEFT BACK. Absolute no brainer.

2. STRIKER. Currently only Tudgay, McGoldrick, Blackstock (injured), Findley (unproven), Garner (not up to it) on our books. Need at least one quality striker as I don't rate any of these highly enough for a serious promotion challenge.

3. CENTRE BACK. Without Wilson do we have any cover for Chambers/Morgan at all??

Those are the essentials as far as I'm concerned. Midfield however is now looking as strong as any in the division. Even with the above we'd still be a little low on numbers, so I'd be keen to see him boost the squad depth a bit with perhaps another striker, defender, and holding midfield cover. As it'll be a long season, injuries/suspensions etc.

But would far rather see carefully considered quality signing than a scattergun approach, buying for the sake of numbers as we've done in the past (Platt, Megson, Calderwood etc). So far so good on that front...

With Boateng possibly signing and Hasselbaink as new first team coach things are starting to get exciting for the start of the season. We all know the remaining shortfalls in positions still to be sorted but maybe those could soon be in the pipeline now.

I do believe the players that have joined the club are an improvement to those that have left, we just need more of those type of signings for the start of the season.

Blackstock and Findley are also two new signings for us this season as they did not figure much last year.

Looking forward to two weeks on Saturday.

i dont think we'll be in the market for another centre back as i believe the club are hoping to bring the young lad lachelles thru to the first team  this season, as for shorey he's already committed himself to wba for this season. its unlikely that we'll be successful in our chase for maynard and routledge so i'm still not convinced we are goin to start the season with enough firepower to make us realistic challengers especially considering how leaky the defence was toward the back end of last season! still work to do..
