O'NEILL FOR FOREST!!

Posted by robbo'sdodgytash from the 70s on 19/08/2010 14:10:43

I have been told this morning that should Forest stutter in mid table or worse come mid October, then the Chairman and Ma Karthur will have all the ammunition they need (along with the ongioing air of disharmony) to dismiss Billy and his army of staff.  MARTIN O'NEILL will be his replacement!  You read it here first!!!!!

RDT I would enjoy mid table or worse if your prediction is correct.

BD has done what he has been paid to do and a fair job he has made of it, but something is wrong within the club. I do not like haw he conducts the clubs and his business through the papers.

Would have to agree with Phil y Phil here.

I don't see any point (or value) in talking about a new manager coming to the club. Instead of working on that, they need to work on getting some of the signings in.

As always O'Neil would be a dream manager for Forest. Just because he's parted company with Villa doesn't mean anything.

He left a club that lacked ambition (finishing 6th in the Premier Leage 3 seasons in a row is considered standing still for Villa). So why would he want to come and work with a Chief Executive that has taken all summer to bring in 2 players.

Billy Davies has worked wonders with this football club. Being an ex Derby manager, things were against him from the start. And I think he's clearly won most (if not all) of the fans over. Yes he mouths off at times, and yes he does spurt a lot out to the press, but to take a club that was heading back to league 1 and transferring them into 'almost' Premier League is an outstanding achievement.

He might well have been in the Premier League now had we signed Pratley in January!

Just decided to join this web site-first time post, can't understand why some supports don't like BD, he did a fantastic job last season, the board did not back him in January. Had they done so I believe we would be in the premiership. We know BD targets and they are good and needed urgently, changing managers won't help, players will. Looking at the reserves result as BD is correct we don't have enough depth and as much as we'd like to rely on some home grown youth coming through to stake a claim for a place. BD I think is frustrated like the fans, do you want him to come out and inform us he's happy with the squad, when we all know we need additions. I think he deserves more credit and support from the supporters. All the board have done is sell and loan out players and not replaced them. Look how small the Forest squad is and with Gunter out, this is a major loss. In my view Joe Garner should be in the squad Mc Goldrick & Adabola could have gone out on loan.

You've started something now, the Sunday Mirror are running a story about O'Neil's shock return to management at Forest.

Like I said earlier in the week.  There is a good chance of this happening if results don't improve. Why do you think the Board won't sanction any new signings?  Simply because they maybe players O'Neill might not want. Apparently O'Neill is in no immediate rush to return to management and will wait for a top vacancy to arise. But would step in at Forest if asked - along with John Robertson (minus the dodgy tash) and Steve Walford.

I have been informed of all this by my usual source from within the Club.

Just read the Mirror item. Will Billy negotiate a deal and walk?

What would the point be in O'Neill coming to Forest, he quit Villa due to lack of ambition by the board there, he's only going to face the same problem here!

You only need to look back to January to prove that point, it now seems it'c once againg coming back to haunt us, the season following the play-off under Paul Hart is another example instead of building on from that the best players got sold off and relegation duely followed.

Get rid of that bloody panel first!

Could not agree more with psnffc1985, BD was not supported in January as he's not now. There should have been new additions in, to build on our squad weeks ago (before the season kicked off).  We have one of the smallest squads in the Championship and thats fact. From the reserve game played it proves BD point the fringe players are just not up to grade. If there are no new additions/investment what do you expect. The tams who really want premiership football are going all out, look at Cardiff )lucky to get Bellamy but Koumas, QPR, the list goes on.  Are we being left behind?

Posted by Sudders on 23/08/2010 17:15:29

Yes have to agree with the Paul Hart Comment. It resembles a very similar story. Our squad is weaker than it was last season and that doesn't show much ambition!

Selling Perch without Davies' knowledge resembles us selling Harewood to West Ham. However I do feel we've had a good deal for Perchy!

Either way, we're not strong enough. that proved on Saturday. McGugan showed some glimpses however he just hasn't filled his full potential yet.

Tyson is nowhere near good enough. And Adebola.... No Comment.

We have a good starting 11, but the fringe players aren't good enough and that is what gets you promoted having a decent squad.

Totally agree with you Sudders!, but us fans should not turn on BD, lets not blame the manager lets look further up the line. I think BD is as frustrated as us the fans, the press keep asking him the questions on transfers and he tells them how it is i.e we need some new players. He's not in politics he's in football. There are just some fans that don't like him because of who he's managed. I say he's as good as anyone if you give him the tools.  Agree we did well with the sale of Perch, but to let him go without getting cover is not good enough and as BD has said the squads to small to cope with the Championship.

Everyone who goes on Saturday needs to give a great rendition of "Billy Davies Red and White Army", show ND and the rest of them we support him so they'd better back him too!!
