OK so far it has been a quiet Summer for Forest on the transfer front. The World Cup might have had a lot to do with that, however other clubs seem to be making signings without any issues.
I believe Davies has provded a list of 4/5 potential transfer targets. This must include Nicky Shorey, who I think would be an outstanding signing for us!! Maybe he's holding out for another Premier League club, however I think we might just get this one.
Others include Peter Wittingham and Pratley. These 3 players don't come cheap. Shorey will be around £2m I would imagine, with Wittingham and Pratley being a similar price. This would take our spending to another £6m (similar to what we spent last season). I hope we can afford these signings, however the lack of January signings should make up for this.
So what's the hold up then? We appear to be interested in these players but nothing seems to be happening. So is this just paper talk or is it truth? One thing's for sure, if we do end up signing these players, It could be another cracking season for us!! (hopefully with a better ending)
Still no signings but Pearch to Newcastle - will he be missed? to me he has only been a squad player and never a star but wish him well in his move up North.
Does this mean we have room for another place to replace him, has there been a fee metioned that Newcastle have paid?
Perch was a victim of his own versatility. Apparently he made over 200 appearances for us. I'd like to know how many he played in the various positions he's been asked to play in by the half dozen Managers we've had during his career with us? It's one body less and a fee and wage towards a new signing - hopefully.
Can't really say perchy will be missed that much. More of a fringe player than anything. I was very surprised to find out he'd played 200 times! I really can't see what Newcastle see in him (probably Calderwood's influence) especially after he was done twice in the game we lost 2-0 up there. A good bit of business in my opinion. Hopefully will free up some cash for new players. Pratley already mentioned in the papers.
The start of the season is 4 weeks away and we may be letting Tyson and Garner go? I have no problem with that only if we get better players as a replacement.
What is going on with the acquisition panel or have we no ambition for the Premiership now that we and additional people have committed to season tickets I am starting to worry what the future is?
It has been reported that Davis didn't know about the Perch transfer until it was a done deal. I don't like the sound of this at all, remember when we last failed to get promotion to the Premiership. The manager was undermined and gradually we sank into the mire of 3rd class football. If ND cannot control the acquisitions panel he should put the club up for sale to someone with more ambition.
What is the matter at the City Ground just looked at the web page and it is reporting from three days ago that we have two squad player injuries and do you want to be a match day cashier?
Either as Wings says sort something out or move out for someone who has ambition for the future (please)
I think these signings will come eventually. I just feel the players we have been linked with aren't going to be easy deals to clinch. If we get Shorey I don't think there's any need for him to settle in as he proved what he could do last season. We could sign him just in time for the first game and there won't be a problem.
But Whittingham and Pratley will need to taken on board sooner rather than later to give them some bedding in time with the squad.
So far not too disappointed with our dealings. Perch out for £1mil (good money). And the injury front (Adebola and McGoldrick) at least this will stop them from being picked!!
Time's ticking though so the Transfer panel best sort it out sooner rather than later!!
