Posted by Sudders on 02/06/2010 13:26:35

According to the Mirror, Forest are after Wittingham for £2m. What a great signing that could be!

Hey Sudders,

if it was in the Mirror it might have been Dick Whittington & his cat for £20. Just moved the decimal point around & I need my glasses with all the small type. Lets hope the AP get this sorted before the January  window. Do they know the season starts in August 2010 & we try to train together as a squad before the 1st match?

C Mon AP Guys-----get your fingers out.

Whittingham should really be in the Premier League,  can't believe nobody's snapped him up already.  Like Cohen he's left-footed and would add creativity ,  is a brilliant dead ball specialist  and would score goals from midfield.  Our midfielders don't score enough goals so this would be a massive bonus.  It doesn't need a Transfer Panel to see that this guy's class so get the cheque book out and get him signed up along with Shorey and Pratley.  Burnley is only 27 days away!!!

Apparently they will accept the bid but want most the money up front, where as we want to pay it over installments... Could be an interesting week... (it better bloody had be!!)

I can't believe we're still waiting to hear news from this. Should we now forget about signing Whittingham/Pratley and look elsewhere? Or are the Transfer Panel not looking anywhere? I'm sure I'm not the only one who keeps scanning the internet for news that Forest have signed a player!?

12 days to go and still very little movement. Bellamy is a twat, but I'm sure Whittingham would rather stay with Cardiff now rather than come to us.

I keep expecting to see a new face or two but even as optimistic as I have been during the close season I feel we will not be making any signings until January at the earliest.

It is disappointing and I understand why you should be cautious and go for the best but we do seem to lack ambition for the future - Think we will stand still in this league for another season.

I'm a little torn on this one Phil y Phil. Yes I'm desperate to make signings, however I don't want us to be in a situation similar to Portsmouth.

We should remind ourselves of this when Cardiff fans are walking around the ground picking up loose change and clearing snow off the pitch in winter for a free match ticket!!

Sudders, we can't be that hard up, ND was informing us he wanted to build on the squad, maybe use the money from the sale of Perch, who we 'sold' to Newcastle and the money we did not use in January when we tried to get Victor, money saved on Garner, Bennett out on loan and Shorey?

Posted by Sudders on 20/08/2010 13:13:30

Agreed, but I do feel we have already spent plenty of money on players (people forgetting the purchase of Majewski just before end of last season).

I know we've probably had the Perch money that's not been used yet, but as Bennett has gone out on Loan, Bertrand has come in. I can't imagine Garner being on too much money and Shorey we didn't own anyway.

We did spend £6mil on players last year and that gamble almost paid off.

I definately agree we need a couple of players coming in as the squad is down to bare bones. Also the Garner exit bemuses me as we're way short of Fire power if Earny and Blackstock get injured/suspended. However I'd rather players come in that we can afford. And it seems that they are doing the right thing in holding out for quality signings rather than just bulking the squad out with Ordinary players.

Lets see what happens when the transfer window closes and the Premier league have too many players for the new 25 man rule. Maybe then we'll see a few loans coming in? I know Davies isn't a big fan of loans, but it didn't do Blackpool any harm!

I agree with what your saying Sudders, but pleae look at the increase in attendances with the purchase of the needed player/tadditions when we added-helped pay the transfer fees-something to consider?. Had we not invested, we would still be playing league 1 football. I believe I'm correct, this has also had a knock on effect with this years FURTHER increase in season tickets/attendances. With no further transfers coming in this will not be the case next year and we still have one of the smallest squads in the Championship-fact, and thats the shame. I totally agree about Garner, don't understand whats going on there, played as a midfielder the start of last season, when he got his chance with the two last games he played as a striker he scored two goals, he's ahead of Mc Goldrick and Adabola in my mind. I thought we had a replacement but as yet nothing, if this is not the case madness is one word that comes to mind.

Unfortunately you have to keep spending to keep rising. I think you can say that about anyone other than Blackpool who did it on a shoestring. All be it they rode their luck a little. Either way I'd rather keep rising steadily rather than spending money that we haven't got.

I thnink we can definately give up on Wittingham and Pratley now. We seemed to have dithered a bit too much here. However I do understand that Davies only had a few players on his list of which one of them was Bertrand. It seems a bit similar to the Victor Moses situation where Mark Author is trying to get £2mil worth of players for half price, and it's just not going to happen!

Who else would you sign that would better our football club? (and I don't mean the likes of Messi and Ronaldo!!)

Posted by BucksRed on 20/08/2010 18:03:26

I don't think we need lots of players but two good ones yes like Whittington or Pratley, there still time to get them, if not expect us to be near the bottom end of the table. So many to choose from, but good if you want quality sqaud playershow about, Craig Bellamy-Free (only dreaming) but Jason Koumous-loan from Wigan-yes please!!!!!!. Danny graham-Watford striker, Clint Hill-defender perfect!!! on a free, Jamie Mackie £145,000, Jay De Merit-out of contract.
