Forest fans from across the city descended on the new club store yesterday to meet their hero, former Forest star Steve Hodge, who had two spells at Forest during his playing career from 1980 – 1985 and then again from 1988 – 1991.
The ex-England International, who also won the league Championship with Leeds, was making an appearance in the new-look store to sign copies of his recently released autobiography ‘The Man With Maradona’s Shirt’, ahead of the 1 - 1 clash with Leeds.
Amongst the local fans who queued up to meet Steve were mother and son Joan and Craig Spiby from Arnold and Brian Hudson from Bestwood Park. Other fans travelled far and wide to have a picture with their hero, with fans from Norfolk, Doncaster and Northampton all waiting in line to meet Steve. It was not just people from the four corners of the UK that turned up, with Vassilis Poulakos, part of the Nottingham Forest Fan Club in Greece, coming all the way from Athens just to visit the new store and meet Steve.
Supporters young and old were astonished at the transformation of their club store, when it was officially opened by current captain Paul McKenna and European cup winning captain John McGovern last Thursday. Following a 12 week refurbishment, the new store is 200% bigger and offers exciting new product ranges including all home, away and training kits.
In addition to visiting the new store at The City Ground, fans can also see a complete range of exclusive and authentic Forest merchandise at the all new online store at www.nottinghamforestdirect.com.
